Pune has taken a significant step in the management of traffic in the Smart City. A smart signal that was recently installed at Vinode Vasti neighbourhood in Hinjewadi, one of Pune's thriving IT and business hubs, has significantly improved traffic management.

As per the official reports, the smart signal records data in real-time and continuously tracks traffic patterns, vehicle movement, pedestrian activity, and other important variables. This signal system contains a censor camera that monitors vehicle movement and adjusts signal timing accordingly. If an ambulance is moving, it automatically becomes green.

The smart signal system's flexibility to adjust to shifting traffic conditions is one of its most important advantages. According to officials, this modification serves to decrease traffic congestion, shorten travel times, and improve overall commuter experience.

In order to facilitate easier traffic flow and prioritise essential services, the smart signals also give priority to certain types of transportation, such as buses, emergency vehicles, and pedestrians. This approach prioritises various modalities in an effort to improve travel for people who utilise public transportation.

The city Traffic police believes that this technology will not only alleviate congestion but also promote a more sustainable and efficient transportation ecosystem in the area.

Meanwhile in Hinjewadi, regular commuters and locals have expressed enthusiasm for the recently built smart signal system. They saw a sizable reduction in travel time, better traffic, and an easier everyday commute.
