Envisaging Affordable Green Living

“We have already found solution which is suitable for smart homes or green homes, so we got invited by the United Nations for presenting one of our solutions. We give such an affordable segment that India needs as in just 6 lakhs you can prepare a house as there is around 30%-40% of the people shifting to urban places”, asserts Vamsi Krishna Gaddam, Joint Managing Director, Visaka Industries in a conversation with Sakshi Madaan, of BW SmartCities. Excerpts below:

Would you appraise us of how the journey started for Visaka Industries?

So, I am from Visaka Industries, Joint Managing Director of the company. So we started up with the roofing system then we started up with Textile and we are the largest producers of spinning which is one type of technology from Japanese material which is used in suites. Also, we started up with the new product called Vnext which is the substitute to plywood and from here we started up with sustainable development and it adds positive drive to the society. Since the last two years, we have almost substituted 4 lakhs trees and in the last two years we did a lot of R&D for developing new roofing product and to develop eco-friendly product. Now we are almost ranging in four different products.

What are the objectives of Visaka Industries in line with Government of India’s Smart City Initiative?

We have already found solution which is suitable for smart homes or green homes, so we got invited by the United Nations for presenting one of our solutions. We give such an affordable segment that India needs as in just 6 lakhs you can prepare a house as there is around 30%-40% of the people shifting to urban places and there is not enough of technology for coping that demand so we are hoping to cover that.

What sector of operation is Visaka Industry exploring to work with Government of India in line with Swacch Bharat Abhiyan?

Like we are actually been working with Government of India directly or indirectly like for Swacch Bharat Abhiyan we have constructed a lot of Toilets in Rural Area with all with our products. Apart from that we are also doing for CPWD like recently I have got an opportunity to meet Sonam Wangchuk he is the scientist in Leh Ladak and we had a discussion about the solution for the problem also we are planning to expand it to army people.

What challenges have you faced while operating in the Indian market? How have you been mitigating the same?

From the last 10years we have been spreading awareness about renewable resources and people don’t care about the environment and then don’t take care it properly. I thin k the main challenge has been that to make people understand not to use such things which harms the environment. The major challenge is to change the mind-set of people to make a better future.

The Government of India has adopted the Digital India Campaign as a pet project and has kept a Deadline of 2019 for its optimum adoption. So what has been the measure that Visaka Industries have taken to compile with this Mission?

Digital India is a great idea but there implementation has not been done properly in terms of Demonetisation, GST and other Digital Platforms. We have a beautiful thing like Aadhaar Card which was at a hike in starting but now it is just waste. So Visaka has a product named ATUM it’s a solar-panel which is power-efficient. Also, Visaka has its own App launched in 2019 which tells about how much power we are consuming and when will be there power-cut and other information. Also, if we talk about skills we are contributing in the Infrastructure Development.

What are your Expansion Plans?

We have just announced the launch of new Vnext Plant in Tamil Nadu and we have an around 100 crore investment for that. I hope that we are the first in the World which generate power with roof as the testing is still going on. We will expand it to smaller plants as no other company is following that based on the market research.

Please apprise us of the CSR initiatives taken by the company?

Yes, sure. Like we are doing CSR funding from last 20 years. We have been donating water bore-wells, School Furniture and education for under privileged students. My mother, who is the Managing Director of the Company is running a College which have several courses like MBA, LAW and has around very low or no fee for Under Privileged Student. We don’t do things for really just doing, we mean what we do.
