Three-firms comes forward to run Public-Bicycle Sharing in Chandigarh

Three PBS companies Delhi Cycles Private Limited, SLS Construction Private Limited, and Smart Bike Mobility Private Limited approved response to the UT Government's Public Bicycle Sharing Project, after much delay.

After much delay, the Chandigarh administration has finally received a response from three-firms for the bi-cycle sharing project in Chandigarh. While neighboring city Panchkula has started a bi-cycle sharing project, but the project had failed to start in city even after floating tenders three times.

According to senior UT officials, this time they have received bids from three companies, namely- Delhi Cycles Private Limited, SLS Constructions Private Limited, and Smart Bike Mobility Private Limited to run the project, against the tender floated by Chandigarh Smart City Limited. A bid for the third time was floated after the recommendations of the technical committee from Chandigarh Smart City Limited.

For the bicycle project, as many as 617 points were identified, of which 110 are bus stops. A maximum of 14 sites are earmarked in various parts of Sector 17. Docket points will be installed in almost all major parts of the city including Sukhna Lake, PGI, Rose Garden, Railway Stations and other various locations.

To speed up the pending projects, the UT administration formed a five-member technical committee including Chief Engineers of Chandigarh administration, Municipal Corporation, and Chandigarh Housing Board.
