Special women cops of Delhi Police to be given commando training

A total of 1205 women constables and 142 women probationary sub-inspectors are undergoing basic training, Parliament was informed earlier this week

New Delhi, Mar 11 (PTI) Special women cops of Delhi Police will be given one month's rigorous commando training to enable them to efficiently protect and safeguard women in the capital, the government said today. These women cops are at present undergoing basic training at Police Training College in Jharoda Kalan. Minister of State for Home Affairs Haribhai Parthibhai Chaudhary in a written reply in Rajya Sabha said that a total of 1205 women constables and 142 women probationary sub-inspectors are undergoing basic training. "A total of 1205 women constables and 142 women probationary sub-inspectors are undergoing basic training at the Police Training College in Jharoda Kalan, where unarmed combat training has been a daily regimen of their outdoor training to enable to make them physcially fit and agile for providing better safety and security to women in the capital," the Minister said. "The basic training will be followed by one month rigorous commando training for women constables for their physical fitness and endurance," he said. After successful completion of this training, these women probationary sub-inspectors and women constables will be deployed primarily for mainstream functions of Delhi Police at police stations, railways, metro rail, IGI airport, special police unit for women and children and PCR unit, he added.
