Rakesh Singh takes over as Chairman, Tumakuru Smart City

Situated 70 kilometers away from Bengaluru, Tumakuru Smart city is planned to spread across 1354.97 acres of land, with an investment of Rs 1800 crores.​

In a recent transfer order issued by the Government of Karnataka, Principal Secretary, Water Resource Department, Rakesh Singh has been rejigged as Chairman, Tumakuru Smart City besides being given the charge of District-in-Charge for Tumakuru.

The previous chairman, Shalini Rajneesh, a 1989 batch IAS officer is presently serving as the Principal Secretary, Planning, Program Monitoring and Statistics. Singh has succeeded Rajneesh in the incumbent position. Situated 70 kilometers away from Bengaluru, Tumakuru Smart city is planned to spread across 1354.97 acres of land, with an investment of Rs 1800 crores.

Recently, Tumakuru and the Danish city of Aalborg signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to improve city’s infrastructure under a smart city initiative. Both the organisations plan to engage in programme of cooperation on Smart City solutions, as part of the basis for creating more sustainable and smarter liveable cities.

The organisation was also in the news for abrubtly getting transfer of its popular MD T Bhoobalan before he could received the ‘Best MD’ national award given by Smart City Council of India.
