Raj cabinet approves Rs 1.56 lakh crore worth solar projects

JAIPUR, July 28: Rajasthan cabinet today cleared Rs 1.56 lakh crore worth investments in solar energy sector in the state, aimed at generating 26,000 MW of solar energy. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rajendra Rathore said that solar parks aimed at generating 26,000 MW of solar energy under Rajasthan Solar Energy policy 2014, will be set up by four companies in the state. Rathore informed that the cabinet has also cleared the proposal to bring an ordinance to amend Prisons Act 1894 to raise the punishment for recovery of mobile phones or any other prohibited objects in jail premises. There has been a proposal to impose 3-year imprisonment or penalty of Rs 3000 or both for such a crime as against the present six-month imprisonment or a penalty of Rs 200 or both, he said. The minister said that provisions with regard to violation of parole conditions have also been included in the ordinance. Provision of 3-year imprisonment or penalty of Rs 3,000 or both for violation of parole conditions has been made in the ordinance. Earlier, there was no clear provision for such violations, Rathore added.
