Railways to set up solar plants in Abu Road, Bhilwara

Indian Railways will set up solar plants in Abu Road and Bhilwara stations in Rajasthan for generating a total of 80 KWP to provide continuous power supply to platforms and offices

NEW DELHI, July 7: Railways will set up solar plants in Abu Road and Bhilwara stations in Rajasthan for generating a total of 80 KWP to meet its energy needs. Two solar plants will be set up at both the stations falling in the the Ajmer Division, a senior Railway Ministry official said. Ajmer Division signed an agreement with CONCOR to set up the two solar plants to produce 40 KWP each. The funding of the solar project will be done by CONCOR, a Railway PSU, under CSR (Corporate social responsibility) programme and the plant will be set up by the Division. The solar plants at the stations will produce 1,50,000 units of energy per year and Railways will save Rs 10,50,000 per year. CONCOR will provide Rs 100 lakh to Railways to set up the plants. The energy generated from them will provide continuous power supply to platforms and the offices situated at the stations.
