Panaji, Jan 21 (PTI) Goa State Pollution Control Board will collect real time air quality data from Panaji city from April, a senior official said today. "Real time data would be collected using ambient air quality monitoring stations," board chairman Jose Manuel Noronha said. The stations would be installed across the city, mostly at crowded places such as markets and bus stand. The project, costing around Rs 1.2 crore, would be the first ever pollution checking initiative in the city by the board that has been already monitoring the air quality in cities like Vasco, home to Mormugao Port Trust. "This will measure the air pollutants like PM5, PM10, ozone, ammonia and will provide update on wind speed, wind directions, etc," he said. The project is a part of the Central Pollution Control Board's (CPCB) scheme, and infrastructure expenses will be shared between the state and the Centre on 50:50 basis. -PTI
