Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeks ideas for smart cities project

The 'Mera Shahar Mera Sapna' contest has been organised by the Ministry of Urban Development seeking ideas and solutions in three different categories for smart cities project

NEW DELHI, June 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today invited suggestions and innovative ideas to implement his ambitious smart cities project. "Have inputs on creating better cities? Participate in the Smart Cities contest," Modi tweeted while posting a link along with it of a contest on ideas for smart cities project. The 'Mera Shahar Mera Sapna' contest has been organised by the Ministry of Urban Development seeking ideas and solutions in three different categories for smart cities project - Common solutions for all cities, smart solutions for traffic problems and use of information technology to improve governance services. The winning ideas would be shared with the 100 Smart Cities project as potentially implementable solutions. Modi will launch two big ticket urban renewal initiatives - the 'Smart City Project' and 'Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT)' - on June 25. The Union Cabinet had already cleared both the projects While Rs 48,000 crore has been earmarked for the 'Smart City' project, Rs 50,000 crore will be spent on AMRUT.
