Noida administration issues instructions for disaster management

NOIDA, Apr 27: The district administration today issued instructions for disaster preparedness and directed authorities to set up disaster management committees at local levels, organise workshops to raise awareness and scrutinise building plans properly before granting approvals. District Magistrate N P Singh at held a meeting of the District Disaster Management Committee at the DM camp office here. Singh directed to set up disaster management committees tehsil level, block level, village level and mohalla level and organise disaster management workshops so that citizens could be made aware about the measures to be taken during any disaster or fire incident in future. Noida and Greater Noida has several high-rise buildings and district officials have to ensure that they are following the disaster management plan and have adequate fire safety equipment and system, he said. The district magistrate said district officers should scrutinise documents properly before issuing fire and disaster management no-objection certificates to units and residential complexes. District Disaster Management Committee will have to work actively, he added. He further said that Noida and Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway authorities while issuing building plan approvals and completion certificates should ensure that building has earthquake-resistant infrastructure and proper fire safety equipments, as per the norms. Singh also instructed for publication of booklet on disaster management.
