Nagpur Municipal Corporation unveils 'Citizen Grievance Management' app

In a bid, to provide a one-stop arrangement for citizen grievances management making use of information technology optimally, as part of switching over to digitalization to cut down red tape and ensure faster delivery of civic services, the city ULB in Nagpur came up with such an app.

In order to expedite public grievances relatively faster and by using technology, the city ULB in Nagpur, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has launched a Citizen Grievance Management App, ‘Nagpur Live City’. The app is supposed to be a useful medium for the city's citizens during the lockdown to address their grievances related to civic amenities and getting redressal in a timely manner.

Tukaram Mundhe, Commissioner, NMC, stated, “The live city app is aimed to provide a one-stop solution for citizen management grievances to make use of technology to the fullest as part of switch over to digitalization to cut down red tape and ensure faster delivery of civic services.”

The app will provide different civic services like water supply, electrical supply, schools and education, solid waste management, property tax, birth and death registration, unsafe buildings, removal of fallen trees, etc in hassle-free and in a timely manner.”

The entire concept of the app is oriented around the needs of citizens and their requirements in day to day interaction with NMC. It is another step towards working in a citizen-centric city. Through the app, one can have on fingertips a single point for grievances related to civic services.

According to a statement issued by NMC, “The App is designed on the principles of transparency to key stakeholders, including citizens and officers, built-in accountability of each officer to attend and resolve the grievance in a specified time and reply to the complaint, else auto-escalation activates and grievances are escalated to the higher authority for its resolution. No discretion is provided to the authorities regarding the time limit or shifting/transferring the grievance to other authorities, which is something unique about the App. Care has been taken while designing the App that it should be user friendly, easy to handle and has a citizens-dashboard for tracking the status of the grievance. Citizens can access the application through Google Play Store.”

One can download the Nagpur Live City app to make one-time registration by filling the required fields. Post-registration, a person has to sign-up for registering any citizen service complaint. Further, the person registering the complaint can track the current status of their grievance and they can also provide their feedback. All the grievances registered through the application will be automatically assigned to the concerned authority of NMC. And one salient feature of App is that the authority to whom the complaint is assigned has to resolve the grievance in a time-bound manner, the statement said.
