NASSCOM PARTNERS WITH VELLORE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, TO DEVELOP THE EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS OF STUDENTS

As part of its ongoing efforts to promote hiring across the industry and ensuring there is a well equipped and industry-ready workforce, the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Tamil Nadu.

As part of its ongoing efforts to promote hiring across the industry and ensuring there is a well equipped and industry-ready workforce, the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) today announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Tamil Nadu. The objective of this collaboration is to showcase the conduct of Assessments and Certification on Qualification Packs (QP) and National Occupational Standards (NOS). The partnership will portray the employability skills of candidates from VIT and the Licensed Training Provider (LTP) by their adoption of the NOS.   

The MoU was signed by Mr. Amit Aggarwal, CEO, IT-ITeS Sector Skills Council NASSCOM and Dr. G Viswanathan, Chancellor, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), on 27th November 2019 at NASSCOM Headquarters based out of Delhi NCR. VIT has signed up for 7500 licenses under NASSCOM’s FutureSkills platform along with 3 QP adoptions. NASSCOM will ensure timely completion of assessment and its certifications developed by NSDC through the Sector Skills Council for all candidates of VIT. The university will in turn avail the Qualification Pack courseware as guides for the student handbook and to develop training modules. The faculty would even have access to the Train-The-Trainer program provided by SSC NASSCOM and will be certified by them as well. 

Speaking on the partnership, Amit Aggarwal, CEO, IT-ITES Sector Skills Council, NASSCOM, said, “This is a prominent landmark in the journey of NASSCOM’s Sector Skills Council and builds on our initiative to accelerate the skills base at the university level. The common objective we share is to showcase India as the global hub for talent development in emerging technologies as well as globally recognized process structures. I am confident that such an initiative will contribute to building a future-ready workforce and benefit the technology sector of the country.”

Expressing his delight on the partnership, Dr. G. Viswanathan, Vellore Institute of Technology said, “This is a prominent landmark in the journey of VIT’s Skill development courses being offered for 7500 students of all four different of campuses of VIT.  The common objective we share is to showcase India as the global hub for talent development in emerging technologies as well as globally recognized process structures. I am confident that such an initiative will contribute to building a future-ready workforce and benefit the technology sector of the country.”

The partnership also involves direct updates being shared with NASSCOM on new and existing batches registered on SDMS that are to be assessed. NASSCOM will also generate secured certificates through their partner, Pitney Bowes, for successful candidates who complete the program. It will also work towards transforming the higher education system by enabling a robust supply of digital talent for the industry and country as a whole. Such a collaboration will form an alliance that works towards the government initiatives to support the IT sector and technology workforce of the country.
