Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma unveils “MyMeG- A Citizen Engagement Initiative”

"In the last three and half years, our government has taken several steps to ensure holistic development of the state. Our vision is to transform Meghalaya into one of the Top ten states in the country by 2030. To achieve this, we have been working tirelessly to improve the well-being of our farmers, women, youth, and every section of the society. To take this further, we want citizens participation and engagement in the governance process. With the launch of MyMeG Program, we aim to promote participatory democracy in Meghalaya, where people can contribute in the governance process and share their feedback on various government programs and initiatives. This will bring transformation in governance by citizen participation, engagement, and empowerment”, said CM Sangma.

Conrad K Sangma, Chief Minister of Meghalaya, has recently launched the MyMeG Program, an initiative of the Government of Meghalaya to facilitate Citizen Engagement and Participation in the Governance Process. The program unveiled on the occasion of International Democracy Day has been designed with a vision to accelerate the pace of development by Engaging and Empowering Citizens and promoting Participatory Governance. 

MyMeG program aims to connect with citizens through face-to-face and digital platforms that will facilitate citizen-centric information on the benefits of key schemes and program will enable tracking progress of the schemes, programs, and initiatives at the district, block, and village level.

The program will enable citizens to participate and share feedback and opinions through polls and surveys and Citizen engagement through town hall meetings, outreach activities, digital quizzes, and contests etc.  Its knowledge Management Team is to coordinate with the department and mobilize the program.

In the last few years, the government has taken many initiatives to promote inclusive development through Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS), Self-Help Groups, Jal Jeevan Mission etc. Meghalaya is among the best states in the country in the implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Program. In the last one year, the government has spent a total of Rs 1370 Crore under this program and transferred about Rs 15,000 per annum into accounts of about 6 lakh households in the state. More than 33,000 number of self-help groups have been formed in the last three years and have provided them funding support of about Rs 8.4 Crore in this year. In the last two years, the government has constructed about 1000 Kms of rural roads, provided household tap connections to 1.3 lakh number of households.

The government believes that MyMeG platform will accelerate the pace of development in Meghalaya and help in achieving ins vision to emerge as the top 10 state by 2030.
