Lucknow traffic police starts photo challan

Under the new photo challan system, traffic policemen will take a picture of violators through their smart-phones and upload it on the traffic police server

LUCKNOW, August 21: Starting tomorrow, traffic police in Lucknow will take photographs of the traffic violators and later upload them on the department server. Under the new system, traffic policemen will take photo of violators through their smart-phones and upload it on the server of traffic police after which challans will be generated and sent to the respective persons on their postal addresses, IG, Traffic Asim Arun said. The system will be launched in Allahabad and Ghaziabad soon, he added. "The system will not only help in checking traffic violations but will also check corruption. The cameras installed under smart city surveillance will also be utilized to take photos and do challans," he said. The arrangements are also being made to deposit challan fees online or through e-suvidha kendras.
