Leh to get Smart City tag, Centre pushing Development Schemes

Leh, the headquarter of the newly formed Union Territory could be the next city to get the Smart City tag as per indications from the Central government, as the latter will soon roll out infrastructure and urban development projects to emphasis quick transformations.

,In a major development of the formation of the country's newest Union Territory in Ladakh, Leh has now transformed into the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs newest destination for building a smart city.

According to sources, a team of officials from MoHUA will visit the city to assess the ground situation and prepare the plan. While launching the Smart City Scheme, the government had announced that all the state capitals and headquarters of Union territories will get the smart city tag.


According to an official from Government of India, LAdakh city which has a huge tourism attraction the future plan will be to promote and protect the local culture while planning the developmental works.
