RANCHI, September 7: The Jharkhand government today kicked off the distribution of housing 'pattas' to the poor and committed to cover all families listed in the housing scheme by 2022. A total 142 homeless families got housing 'pattas' (housing documents) from Chief Minister Raghubar Das at a function organised for the purpose at Madhukam here. Water, electricity and other basic amenities would be made available to the poor by 2022, an official release said quoting him. Stating that the poor too played an important role in the state's economy, Das said the government was keen to give the poor their rights to live in a dignified manner and housing was the basic requirement for a family as it gave it an identity in the society. Holding under-development of villages since Independence is responsible for villagers to migrate to cities, the Chief Minister said the government would develop villages on the yardstick of model village - cleanliness, health services, increase in purchasing capacity and other amenities.
