IT City project vital for UP, to start soon: Akhilesh

The investment arm of HCL will set up a 100-acre IT CIty as per the MoU signed with the state government, which would create job opportunities for 25,000 people

LUCKNOW, September 12: Stating that the IT City project was vital to garner investments and to create job opportunities, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said his government was committed to start the ambitious project in the state capital at the earliest. "The IT city project in Lucknow is very important as it will not only provide job opportunities and better vocational training to the youths but also bring investments and the state government wants to start it at the earliest," he said during a meeting with HCL founder Shiv Nadar at his official residence here. The state government had signed an MoU with the investment arm of the HCL in June this year for setting up a 100-acre Information Technology city which according to estimates would create job opportunities for 25,000 jobless and indirect jobs for 50,000 others. An official release issued here said Nadar has assured the chief minister that his priority project will be started by October 2016. About 1,000 people will get employment in the first phase and proper care will be taken on maintaining quality in the project, Nadar said. Nadar, who is also the chairman of Shiv Nadar Foundation, being run by the the IT giant, apprised the Chief Minister of the works being done for the all round development of villages in Hardoi district, the release added.
