GVMC plans Rs100crore Outlay on Critical Infra this fiscal

GVMC will take up works worth Rs 100 to Rs120 crore this fiscal in tune with the annual revenue flow of the civic body.

Greater Vishakhapatnam Municipal Corporation declares to spend about Rs 100 to 120 crore on critical infrastructure in the city this fiscal. These works will be separate from the projects under Vizag Smart City initiative, Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation and others, which are funded by Asian Development Bank and World Bank.

The GVMC has renewed its focus on developmental activities, after receiving a go-ahead from the state government. Despite rapid urbanization of the sub-urbs, many newly developed colonies lack access to basic infrastructure. The civic body now intends to extend infrastructure to the outskirts under its developmental activities.

A recent study by the civic body estimates a cost of around Rs 900 crore to provide 100 per cent critical infrastructure to all zones of the city.
