Extension Infuses New Life To Kochi Smart City Project

The CSML has successfully finished 20 projects in the city thus far. Additionally, two more projects are currently during the tendering process, and 30 projects are already in the execution phase

The Union government has approved an extension until June 2024 for the Kochi Smart City project.

According to official information, this decision is welcome news because without this extension, a number of Cochin Smart Mission-initiated initiatives would have been in jeopardy.

As per the officials, with the extra time provided, the CSML can now concentrate on putting numerous ongoing ideas into practice. The MP Hibi Eden made a substantial contribution to the case for the project's expansion. He brought up the issue with Rajiv Ranjan Singh, the chairman of the Parliament's urban affairs committee.

The CSML has successfully finished 20 projects in the city thus far. Additionally, two more projects are currently during the tendering process, and 30 projects are already in the execution phase. Projects like the Rs 72 crore Ernakulam Market restoration and the Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) housing project, both of which have encountered delays for a variety of reasons, would have been severely hampered without the extension from the central government.

The choice to extend the Smart City project until June 2024 gives the CSML the breathing room it needs to properly carry out continuing efforts. This extension guarantees that important initiatives can proceed without interruption, benefiting Kochi and its citizens.
