Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir, B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, announced Commerce Secretary, Government of India

Subrahmanyam replaced Anup Wadhwan, upon superannuation on June 30.

In a major bureaucratic transfer ordered by the Government of India, the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir, B.V.R. Subrahmanyam is announced as next the Commerce Secretary, Government of India. Subrahmanyam has replaced Anup Wadhwan, upon superannuation on June 30.

A 1987 batch officer of Chhattisgarh cadre, Subrahmanyam went on deputation to Jammu and Kashmir in June 2018. He took charge as Chief Secretary when the State was bifurcated into two Union Territories in 2019. Having worked in Manmohan Singh's Prime Minister’s Office as Joint Secretary, Subrahmanyam is a widely experienced officer. 

In the Ministry of Commerce, he has been appointed as an Officer on Special Duty for a month, before he takes over as the Secretary when the incumbent Mr. Wadhawan superannuates on June 30.
