Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation permits 35 private hospitals for covid-19 tests in Mumbai; 5 IAS officers appointed to monitor

The BMC has appointed two officials for each private hospital to keep a tab on billings. The move was taken so that private hospitals can allocate available beds and give better treatment to covid-19 patients.

At least five IAS officers have been appointed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) as nodal officers to monitor and ensure the availability of hospital bed and cap on hospital charges for covid-19 tests for general public at identified 35 private hospitals in Mumbai.

According to official information, the IAS officers are Madan Nagargoje, Ajit Patil, Radhakrishnan, Sushil Khodvekar, and Prashant Narnavare. They will ensure that all these hospitals will obey the guidelines issued by the government as well as check the number of patients admitted in the hospital and the bed capacity.

Earlier, the Maharashtra government mandated that 80 percent of beds available in private hospitals shall be reserved for covid-19 patients. The nodal officers will ensure that the hospitals are following the guidelines of bed availability and the same will update on the BMC website (portal.mcgm.gov.in).

Private Hospitals in Mumbai

The hospitals include: Bombay Hospital, Saifee Hospital, Jaslok Hospital, Breach Candy Hospital, HN Reliance Hospital, Bhatia Hospital, Conwest, Manjula S Badani Jain Hospital and NH SRCC Children's Hospital.

Masina Hospital, Wockhardt Hospital, Prince Ali Khan Hospital, Global Hospital, KJ Somaiya Hospital, Guru Nanak Hospital and PD Hinduja Hospital. Raheja Hospital, Lilavati Hospital, Holy Family Hospital, Seven Hills Hospital, BSES Hospital, Shushrusha Hospital and Holy Spirit Hospital.

Kohinoor Hospital, Hindu Sabha Hospital, SRV Chembur Hospital, Galaxy Multi-speciality hospital, L H Hiranandani Hospital, Surana Sethia Hospital and Fortis Hospital. Karuna Hospital, Kokilaben Hospital, Sanjeevani Hospital, Nanavati Hospital, Apex Hospital and Apex Super speciality Hospital.

Email IDs were created for these officials to communicate with the general public and hospital management.
