On account of the current Covid 19 pandemic situation, the Swachhata app is relaunched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), in order to enable citizens to register Covid 19 related complaints and get them resolved by the local ULB ( Urban Local Bodies). As per sources in the Ministry, 1.5 lakh complaints have been resolved through the app, which is a resolution rate of 87 percent.

The 2.0 version of the Swachhata App is integrated with nine additional categories of complaints specific to Covid 19, which is supposedly intended to strengthen the services to be rendered to the citizens. As per information from sources from MoHUA, the overall investment incurred in Urban Transformation from @2014 to 2021 is up by 627 percent in comparison to 2004 to 2014. An amount of INR 12 lakh crore has been invested for the upgrading of urban infrastructure and ease of living in comparison to a mere 1.5 lakh crore from 2004 to 2014

As a matter of fact, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has remained at the forefront of managing Covid crisis across the country in a very diligent manner. The ministry utilized its pet project Smart City Mission across the country in several states to monitor and manage the Covid crisis leveraging technology. The Integrated Command and Control Centers (ICCC) in several smart cities were converted to Covid War-rooms in order to sync several departments dealing with Covid response.
