'Smart City' to be Completed in Three Years, says Kerela Chief Minister

THIRUVANATHPURAM, June 23: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan today said that the Smart City project in Kochi would be completed in three years.

The Chief Minister, who held a high-level meeting with Smart City officials here, said the government had got an assurance that construction works of the project would be over within the period.

An official release quoted him as saying that construction of the 55.5 lakh square feet buildings would be completed by 2020. The development of Smart City would be designed so as to create one lakh new job opportunities, he said.

Of the total 88 lakh square feet space of the project, 67 lakh sq feet would be earmarked for the IT and 21 lakh sq feet for non-IT purposes, the CM said, adding it was decided to convene the next smart city board meeting on August 6 in Kochi.
